Monday Made It!

Hi everyone! It's been awhile!! I actually meant to post this project for LAST WEEK'S Monday Made It, but I kept forgetting my camera... So I'm linking up TODAY!
Last week, I decided to tackle the filing cabinet makeover that's been flying around Pinterest for a while. I used two file cabinets last year but decided to cut it down to one. I keep the rest of my files in a pull-out drawer near my teacher table. The most daunting part of this task was emptying the file cabinet and moving it outside, ha! I went on a hunt for some crates to store my hanging files and found these milk crates in the lunchroom :)

Next I removed the drawers...
Then I took it outside and spray painted it black. We actually ran out of spray paint and had to run to Freddy's to get more! It took about 3 cans of spray paint.

I wanted to use scrapbook paper on the front, so my mom helped me make a pattern with tape and butcher paper. Then I used an x-acto knife to cut my paper to fit. I used Mod Podge to glue and seal the paper down. I was afraid that the paper would wrinkle too much and not look great, but I came back the next day and they were perfect! I used some clear shipping tape on the sides and top to hold down the paper edges.

And here's my finished file cabinet! I love it! It actually matches my crate seats that I made last year.

Two other smaller project that I made this week - I redid my Today's Objectives labels and the small labels inside my Place Value pocket chart.

You can buy my Objective Headers here! Pocket Chart from ReallyGoodStuff

Pocket Chart from Lakeshore Learning. I taped the velcro pouch behind it.

I really like how just a little change can make a big difference!! I'll probably be posting these in my TpT store, I just have to purchase a commercial license for the font :) Stay tuned!
